Trampoline Safety?
Owning a trampoline means that you have some key responsibilities in understanding trampoline safety.
So what are some of things to keep in mind regarding trompoine safety? (Here are some items to consider in no particular order.)
Placement of trampoline: It just makes sense that your trampoline is kept away from objects such as trees, swingsets, lawn furniture, etc. All it takes is one occurrence of someone falling off your trampoline and into a tree to cause a serious accident. If you can afford the space and extra cost, some people even dig and fill the area around trampolines with pea gravel, etc. just like you'd find at a park. This helps reduce the risk of injury by creating an area that has some give, if a child or adult happens to fall from the trampoline this should help reduce injuries. Location and placement of your trampoline is an important factor in trampoline safety.
Number of Users:You and I have probably heard numberous times in our lives that there should only be one jumper on a trampoline. That holds true today as much as it did 20 years ago. The risk of injury increases dramatically for every extra person that's on a trampoline. Even with the addition of a trampoline enclosure, the number of jumpers is still an important factor in trampoline safety. It's not the fall off the trampoline that always causes injury, multiple jumpers means that colliding into one another because a big factor. One jumper will reduce the chance of injury, commons sense with trampoline safety.
Training and Supervision:We recently had a young girl at our place who started to do some flips on our trampoline. I quickly informed her that we didn't allow this type of activity on our trampoline. Children need to be supervised so that unwanted activities do not occur on your trampoline. Some may feel that any type of activity is okay on their trampoline, that's for you to decide. But part of trampoline safety means that you as a parent or responsible individual needs to know what's going on. Don't let kids jump without supervision and an understanding of the rules.
Quick Overview: Trampoline Safety is a key to enjoying your trampoline. If an owner of a trampoline isn't willing to take the safety of users into consideration, then the trampoline shouldn't be used. Trampolines are fun and give us all a little added exercise, but safety is a key. Nobody wants to deal with injuries, injuries are avoided by taking some steps in ensuring you've covered the basics of trampoline safety.
